Traditional Korean Music Collaboration

directed by Sohee Baek

Welcome

A collaborative project bringing together Korean traditional musicians and composers from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, this project explores the meeting point between Korean traditional music and contemporary composition.

Through newly composed works inspired by Korean musical traditions, poetry and short stories, Guildhall composers explore distinctive rhythmic patterns, melodic structures and instrumental sounds, combining them with Western classical composition techniques.

The project aims to introduce students to Korean musical elements, encourage cross-cultural creative exchange, and inspire future collaborations that explore the possibilities of world music.
